Doctor
Dr. Deepa Saggar graduated from the Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences at the Haryana Agricultural University located in Hisar, Haryana in 1997. She was awarded with the University Gold Medal for her outstanding performance. She then pursued her Masters in Anatomy. After graduating, she worked as a field veterinarian and became a teacher in Pantnagar University. Upon coming to Canada in 2007, Dr. Saggar completed The College of Veterinarians of Ontario’s bridging program called VSTEP - Veterinary Skills Training and Enhancement Program. In 2010, Dr. Saggar cleared her exams and officially obtained her licensure. Dr. Saggar then practiced in multiple small animal clinics all around the GTA as an associate and locum veterinarian for 6 years prior to acquiring Brisdale Animal Hospital in 2017.
When she’s not at Brisdale Animal Hospital, she loves spending time with her husband, her son, and her dog Blossom.
Registered Veterinary Technicians
Melissa shared her childhood with her family dog, Buddy, who started her love for animals. After deciding to pursue the veterinary career, she graduated from the Animal Care Program in 2012. She eventually landed a position as a veterinary assistant in a small animal hospital in Brampton and officially joined our team in 2015. Melissa enrolled in Sheridan College’s Veterinary Technician Program in 2014. Shortly after she graduated, Melissa passed the VTNE in summer of 2016 and officially became a Registered Veterinary Technician. She is now our head RVT and our hospital manager.
Melissa and her husband, who is also an RVT, shares their lovely home with 2 cats named Queenie and Tux and their 2 beautiful daughters.
Loan grew up in Vietnam and came to Canada in 2016. She graduated from the Veterinary Technician Program at Sheridan College in 2020. She joined Brisdale Animal Hospital as a volunteer and eventually as a veterinary technician co-op student. She officially joined the team in 2019 and successfully passed her VTNE in 2021 and became a Registered Veterinary Technician. Loan has a special interest in Dentistry.
During her free time, she enjoys travelling and other outdoor activities with her friends and family, especially her niece, Viviane. Recently, Loan rescued a lovely cat named Lai, which means Jasmine in Vietnamese.
Growing up in the Philippines and seeing the stray animals, Jojo always knew she wanted to help animals. She did her high school co-op at the Brampton Animal Shelter and eventually went to University of Guelph for Animal Biology, and then switched to the Veterinary Technician Program at Sheridan College in 2020. She graduated from the program in 2022 and passed her VTNE in 2023. Jojo became a part of the team in the summer of 2022 and has shown a passion for surgery and dentistry.
Although having mostly worked at small animal practices, she has a special love for pocket pets and other exotics, especially rabbits. She eventually wants to experience working with zoo animals. Jojo loves spending her free time with her family and her 6 rabbits.
Veterinary Technicians
As a 5-year-old, Kasia’s Golden Retriever, Sasha, developed hip dysplasia. This experience made her want to pursue a career that advocates for and helps animals. She has had many different types of pets growing up. In 2021, Kasia became a part of the Veterinary Technician Program in Northern College and switched over to Sheridan College. She is currently in her final year and is working towards becoming licensed. She joined in 2022 as a co-op student and was eventually hired as a team member.
Kasia currently has 2 fur babies - a Great Pyrenees named Bella, and a Domestic Shorthair named Lyla. She enjoys reading books and the outdoors.
