We are excited for you and your pet to embark on your upcoming adventure!

As of 2026, Brisdale Animal Hospital DOES NOT provide any information on travel requirements or travel documents.

You are responsible for determining all import and travel requirements for your destination country and any countries you have a layover.

Import regulations can change without notice.  PLEASE PLAN AHEAD & USE THE STEPS BELOW TO HELP!

There is a charge for the appointment and a charge for vaccines, microchip and additional treatments or services requested during your booking with us.

Step 1: You can contact the following to help guide you:

  • The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), they take some time getting back to you. CALL THEM ASAP so you know what you need.
  • Your airline
  • The veterinary authority of your destination country
  • The official government animal import website for your destination country

Many countries have strict timelines for vaccinations, laboratory testing, parasite treatments, and document endorsements. You need to determine and book your appointments accordingly.

Some helpful questions to ask when calling CFIA or regulating government authorities include the following:

  • Which vaccinations are required?
  • What do I need for the countries I have a layover flight in?
  • Does my pet need to be microchipped? Does the microchip have ISO-compliance?
  • Are there specific time-frames for vaccinations before travel?
  • What are the travel requirements for the country I have a layover in?
  • How far in advance should I begin preparing my travel documents and have the vet fill them out?

Are there any of these required?

  • Import permit?
  • Internal parasite treatment?
  • External parasite treatment?
  • Government endorsement?
  • Multiple examinations?
  • Specific health certificates?

Additional Questions:

  • Are there any specific health certificate requirements?
  • Are there breed restrictions or age requirements?
  • Are there additional requirements for transit countries?
  • Traveling to India? - Ask about DGTF
  • Travelling to Dubai? - Ask about the Rabies titre test.

Ask about Rabies titre test and if it's required. If required, please ensure you know when it can be done, for example - how long before or after vaccines?

Please remember. Many countries have strict timelines for vaccinations, laboratory testing, parasite treatments, and document endorsements. You need to determine and book your appointments accordingly.

Step 2: Once you know everything you need. Please book your appointment with us then send us all of the required information no later than 2 business days BEFORE coming to the clinic.

  • A list of all documents you are sending to the hospital.
  • All documents must be sent to the hospital in PDF format.
  • Please indicate how many original copies you require of each document.

PLEASE NOTE: Unless otherwise specified by the destination country, all certificates will be completed in blue ink.

We need this email response minimum 2 business days BEFORE your appointment with us. If you respond to the email within 2 business days of your appointment, your documents will be delayed. No exceptions.

Step 3: Please provide the following information for the individual travelling with the pet:

  • Full legal name (exactly as it appears on your passport)

Step 5: Please provide the original microchip implantation record which details owners information, date the microchip was given and the microchip companies name.

  • It is the owners responsibility to gather this information for their pets microchip unless it was implanted at Brisdale Animal Hospital.
  • Contact the CFIA  or destination country regulating authority ASAP  if you cannot find this information OR the breeder cannot provide it to you.
